“I already had experience as a composer and musician, but wanted to pull together my theory knowledge and technique so that I could identify areas that I need to work on and find new ways to spark musical ideas and inspiration. After a few lessons with Dan I already notice the difference in my work thanks to his explanations of musical theory and concepts."

Rowan, Totterdown

I started taking lessons from Dan about 4 years ago, when I was 58 years old, and had never played piano before. We started out by agreeing what I wanted to achieve and I'm thrilled that I successfully completed my Grade 5 exams last year and we're now working on Grade 6. It's really convenient for me that he comes to my home for lessons. I'm really happy with my progress but, more importantly, I really look forward to my lessons. There are lots of laughs and Dan is a really patient teacher who adapts to your current goals. I'm a big fan.

Robin, Clifton

"Dan is very kind and patient. He listens to me and wants me to do my best. He's always got a smile on his face."

Eva, Aged 11

Listen to Our Students

"I really like Dan because at the end of the lessons we can make up our own songs."

Lyra, Aged 9

"Dan has been a great piano teacher for the girls. He makes the lessons fun and is inventive with his teaching methods. He also helped accompany our daughter for her cello exam.

Dan  tutored me when I took up piano in my 40s. He has a great breadth of music knowledge and experience which has meant he has taught me lots of different styles of piano music. We will often explore a classical piece in the same lesson as more modern songs. I have also enjoyed learning blues improvisation."

Sam, St Andrews

"Dan is great. He's really kind and nurturing but good at explaining the technical stuff too. He teaches me and both my kids across a range of stuff from classical to jazz. He listens to what you want to achieve and tailors the lessons accordingly."

James, St Andrews

"Dan has proved himself to be a very popular teacher both with his students and with the parents. His style is such that he engenders confidence in his student’s ability to learn new pieces of work and compose their own pieces. I’m often complimented by parents on both the uniqueness of the programme, in terms of its focus on providing music lessons for low income families and on the ‘greatness’ of the teachers – none more so than Dan."

Medg Sullivan - Programme Manager, Brixton Wings

"Over the last four years Dan has successfully prepared the children for their grades while teaching them to love playing piano music of all sorts, from classical to jazz and pop. They always look forward to their lessons, especially the improvisation session at the end."
